General Fair Information

What are the dates of the Fair?

The 2018 Colorado State Fair opens at 10am on Friday, August 24 and runs through 11pm on Monday, September 3 (Labor Day).

How much is gate admission?

Adult Gate Admission (ages 13 & older) - $10
Kids (ages 5-12) - $7
Children 4 & under are FREE (when accompanied by an adult)

What are the special deals & discounts for the Fair?

Is there a Senior Discount?

Yes; Senior Citizens ages 60 and older receive a $2 discount daily.
Offer not valid on Tuesday, August 29 ($2 Tuesday) and Wednesday, August 30 (Pay One Price Day)

Is there a discount for Military personnel?

Yes, there is a $2 discount daily for Military personnel with proof of affiliation.

Do you take checks or credit cards at the gate or carnival?

The Colorado State Fair does not accept any checks at all. Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express are accepted. ATM machines are also located throughout the grounds.

Are there ATM machines?

Yes, there are ATM machines located throughout the Fairgrounds.

Pet Policy - are pets allowed at the Colorado State Fair?

NO. Pets are NOT allowed on the Colorado State Fairgrounds with the exception of service dogs or animals competing at the Fair.

Are there stroller rentals available?

Yes; mobility rentals are available at Gate 5 (Prairie Avenue) and Gate 9 (Beulah Avenue). Valid ID is required for all rentals.

How tall do you have to be to ride the Carnival rides?

There are several heigh limits. In general, children under 36 inches can't ride anything but the carousel (with an adult) or the Kiddie Train (can't ride alone).

Also, NO wristbands will be sold for people under 36 inches because it is not a good value for them. There are about 8 rides for children 36 to 42 inches tall.

Many rides are available for people more than 42 inches tall BUT most of the rides that involve extreme movement, such as spinning or going upside down, are limited to people 52 inches and taller.

If you aren't sure, the best thing to do before buying a wristband is to walk and around and look at the rides you or your children want to ride and see if it is possible.

Are there rides available for small children?

How do I buy a ticket to an event being held at the Colorado State Fairgrounds?

Event tickets may be purchased from the Fair's Box Office, through the Fair website, at any Altitude Tickets outlet or by calling Altitude Tickets at 1-866-461-6556.

What are the Box Office hours of operation?

Monday - Thursday: 12pm - showtime

Labor Day: 10am - showtime

What are the non-Fair Box Office hours of operation?

Monday - Friday: 10am - 5pm; closed 1-2pm for lunch

Is there camping at the Colorado State Fair?

Camping during the Colorado State Fair will be in the Horsemen/Livestock Lot located just north of the Event Center. Please refer to the camping area map. The spaces along the Prairie Avenue and Small Avenue walls are reserved for vendors and exhibitors (those staying the entire run of the Fair).Only registered participants are allowed to camp during the Fair.

Do camping spaces have water hook-ups and electrical service?

All spaces have water hookups and electrical service at a minimum of 30-amp service. Some also have sewer hookups and 50-amp electrical service.

Are sewer services offered to campers during the Colorado State Fair?

Some spaces have sewer hookups. Sewer pumping service is available each morning for those requiring the service.

Are there pull through spaces available for camping during the Colorado State Fair?

We do not offer pull through sites. The camping spaces are 40 feet long and 15 feet wide. If you will require more than 15 feet in width, you will have to rent two spaces. Be sure to request side by side spaces.

Can horse trailers with living quarters camp on the grounds?

Horse trailers with living quarters may camp on grounds. Parking will be available for all other horse trailers at the dog track free of charge. No services and no overnight camping available at that location, however, security will be provided.

What is the rate for overnight camping?

The rate for overnight camping is $35.00 per camp space per night. Space rental runs from noon to noon . If you are participating in an event that will run later, we ask that you either reserve and pay for that day or move your vehicle(s) by noon. There is a $10 fee charged for vehicle passes for each camping stay. One vehicle all pass may be purchased per camping space. Both the vehicle and RV must fit within the 40 ft. camping space. Motor homes will be issued RV passes. The vehicle pass allows your vehicle to drive in and out of the gate.

How do I enter the parades?

The State Fair Parade is coordinated by the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce. Please call 719-542-1704 for more information.

Parking, Transportation & Directions

How do I get to the Colorado State Fairgrounds?

Traveling from the North: Take I-25 South to Exit 97A (Central Avenue Exit). Go north one block to Northern Avenue. Turn left on Northern Avenue to Beulah Avenue. Turn right on Beulah Avenue and go four blocks to the Fairgrounds.
Traveling from the South: Take I-25 North to Exit 97A (Central Avenue Exit). o north one block to Northern Avenue. Turn left on Northern Avenue to Beulah Avenue. Turn right on Beulah Avenue and go four blocks to the Fairgrounds.
Traveling from the West: Take Highway 50 East to Pueblo Boulevard. Turn right on Pueblo Boulevard to Thatcher Avenue. Turn left on Thatcher Avenue to Prairie Avenue. Turn right on Prairie Avenue and go four blocks to the Fairgrounds.
Traveling from the East: Take Highway 50 West to 4th Street. On 4th Street, go west. Be aware that 4th Street becomes Lincoln Street then becomes Thatcher Avenue. Stay on Thatcher Avenue to Prairie Avenue. Turn left on Prairie Avenue and go four blocks to the Fairgrounds.

Where can I park?

Public parking is available in the Colorado State Fair lot south of the Fairgrounds between Mesa and Northern Avenue.


Is there a State Fair Shuttle this year?

Yes; the shuttles, sponsored by Parkview Medical Center, will run from the Main Street Parking Garage, located at 110 S. Main Street in downtown Pueblo, to the State Fair Gate on Beulah Avenue. Shuttles run every 15 to 30 minutes and costs $2 per person, round-trip, for everyone ages 7 and older. Parking in the garage is FREE.

How much does it cost to ride the State Fair Shuttle?

It costs $2 per person, round-trip for everyone over the age of 7 years and older.

What are the Shuttle Service hours of operation?

Wednesday & Thursday - 12pm to 12am (midnight)
Friday & Saturday - 10am to 1am
Sunday - 10am to 12am (midnight)
Labor Day - 10am to 12am (midnight)
The shuttle will not operate on Monday, August 28 or Tuesday, August 29.

Is there a State Fair Courtesy Cart this year?

Courtesy Carts will be available to transport people from the South Lot to the Carnival Gate and Prairie Gate (Gates 3 & 5, respectively).

Where is handicapped-access parking?

Handicapped access to the Fairgrounds is available from designated parking areas along Beulah Avenue and Arroyo Avenue. Please be aware that Arroyo Gate is not open to the public.

Other FAQs

Can I bring food or drinks into the Fair?

No; outside food and drinks are not allowed. No coolers are allowed. Exceptions are made for medical conditions.

Can I smoke on the Fairgrounds?

Smoking of any sort is prohibited in buildings per state law. Smoking includes e-cigarettes, vapor cigarettes, joints, cigarettes, pipes, cigars, etc. Please note, smoking of cannabis in public is illegal.

Is there anywhere to charge my cellphone on the grounds?

Yes! Black Hills Energy has teamed up with American Furniture Warehouse to provide three Power Up Lounges on the grounds. You'll find one lounge in the palace of Agriculture on the South wall where you can kick your feet up and Power Up yourself while your phone charges. There's also lounges located in the Colorado Building and the Agriculture Pavilion.

What other rules are there for the Fairgrounds?

We have the following rules to make sure everyone has a safe and fun time:
-No knives, guns, or objects to be construed as weapons will be allowed
-No coolers will be allowed
-No outside food or drink
-No dogs or pets with the exception of handicap assistance animals or animals competing at the Fair
-Smoking of any sort is prohibited in buildings per state law. Smoking includes e-cigarettes, vapes, joints, cigarettes, pipes, cigars, etc. Please note, consumption of cannabis in public is illegal
