Colorado State Fair Contests Honors Man’s Best Friend
PUEBLO, Colo. – The
Colorado State Fair’s General Entry Department provides an opportunity for all
Coloradans to participate in the Fair through 1,500 different contests. This
year, two new contests feature man’s best friend in the “Hot Diggity! Dog Days”competitions.
Special Quilt Contest
This new contest
highlights the skill of quilt making, which has often been passed down through
generations of sewers. Quilts must have been made within the past 24 months and
be an original design. Quilts made from precut, stamped kits or preprinted
panels are ineligible. This competition is open to an individual or groups,
amateurs and master quilt makers, and must feature the theme, “Hot Diggity! Dog
Days.” The entry fee is only $5 with prize money totaling $1,700. The contest
will be held on August 29, 2015; registration is now open with an entry
deadline of August 27, 2015. The six winning quilts will be on display during
the run of the Fair.
Dress Your Doll Contest
This unique contest suggests
that you dress your doll showcasing dogs to follow the theme of “Hot Diggity!
Dog Days.” It is open to amateur and pros and is comprised of adult and youth
categories. The entry fee is only $5 with prize money totaling $150. The
contest will be held on September 3, 2015; registration is now open with an
entry deadline of September 1, 2015. Winning entries will be on display
throughout the run of the Fair.

The 2015 Colorado State Fair will
mark the Fair's 143rd year as Colorado's premier celebration of
agriculture. The Fairgrounds provides nearly $34 million in economic activity
