Kids are Invited to “Go Hog Wild” at the Colorado State Fair
PUEBLO, Colo. – Bacon is a delicious addition to any meal
and kids are now invited to test their bacon-creativity in the “Go Hog Wild”
contest at the Colorado State Fair.
Participants, 16 years old and younger, are invited to
compete in this new state fair challenge. They must create an original
recipe (breakfast/brunch, lunch, dinner, appetizer, salad, soup, main dish,
side dish, snack, dessert, beverages or other) with bacon as the main
ingredient with a significant taste of bacon in the dish. Dressings and sauces
are allowed. The dish can be paired with additional proteins and vegetables.
The kid’s cook-off is sponsored by Stubby’s Cinnamon Rolls,
which is located in the Palace of Agriculture. Judging will be based on taste,
creativity, appearance, ease of preparation, and general appeal. The entry fee
is only $5 with the top three prizes totaling $250.
The contest will be held on September 4, 2015; registration
is now open with an entry deadline of September 2, 2015. For contest details,
official rules, and a list of other special contests, contact the Colorado
State Fair general entry office at 719-404-2080 or visit http://www.coloradostatefair.com/p/events/competitive-events/231.

The 2015 Colorado State Fair will mark the Fair's 143rd year
as Colorado's premier celebration of agriculture. The Fairgrounds provides
nearly $34 million in economic activity to Colorado throughout the year; $29
million of that activity is driven by the annual State Fair event. In addition
to showcasing Colorado agriculture, the annual event features one of the
country’s largest traveling carnivals, artwork, crafts, food competitions,
thrilling rodeo action, a wide variety of food and merchandise booths and a
Fiesta Day honoring Colorado's ties to the Hispanic culture.
